The sailing superyacht Simena
The 62-meter-long sailing superyacht Simena is currently sailing to Palma de Mallorca, where it will make its world debut at the Palma International Boat Show 2026, scheduled from April 29 to May 2. It will be her first public appearance, and the yacht is set to be the largest exhibition of the entire event.
For Ares Yachts, a shipyard based in Antalya, Simena represents the first entry into the over 60-meter segment and the most ambitious project carried out so far. Built with a composite steel and carbon structure according to the requirements of the Rina Charter Class C, the boat combines offshore sailing capabilities with a setting marked by refined luxury.
The exterior design bears the signature of Taka Yacht Design, which developed the lines of the yacht looking on the one hand at the classic proportions of traditional ketches and on the other at the needs of performance. The result is a profile that combines classic elegance and sailing vocation. The interiors, designed by Design Unlimited, harmoniously blend tradition and innovation.
From a technical point of view, Simena is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, designed to offer efficiency and performance in different sailing conditions. In electric mode, the superyacht can sail silently at speeds of up to 8 knots and guarantees a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 7 knots with an electric motor.
When using diesel propulsion, it reaches a top speed of 14 knots and offers a range of 4,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 9 knots. During sea trials, it reached 14 knots under sail, while the maximum speed expected under sail is 16 knots with 20 knots of wind and a wind angle of 100 degrees.
Stylistically, traditional teak decks and painted sipo mahogany details nod to the golden age of sailing, while contemporary comforts have been discreetly integrated throughout the boat. The spaces are designed to accommodate up to 12 guests and 9 crew members, with an owner's suite located in a privileged position on the main forward deck.
Also on the environmental front, Simena has already obtained important awards. The yacht has received a 4-star "superior" SEA Index rating, a certification developed by the Yacht Club de Monaco and UBS Group, with verification by Lloyd's Register. This positions the superyacht among the most environmentally efficient units in its class, confirming that hybrid propulsion allows for a significant reduction in carbon emissions without compromising performance.
In addition, Simena has also obtained two nominations at the prestigious Explorer Awards of La Belle Classe Superyachts, confirming its contribution in terms of innovation, exploration and environmental responsibility. Listed among the 25 longest sailing superyachts in the world, Simena is currently for sale exclusively through Northrop & Johnson. Before its presence at the Palma International Boat Show, the yacht will remain in the Mediterranean and will be available, on request, for private visits reserved for clients and brokers.
