Simena: the sailing superyacht by Ares Yachts

The 62-meter ketch debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026 as one of the largest newbuilds on display with classic lines, five cabins and a hybrid propulsion system

ARES Yachts enters the world of large sailing superyachts with SIMENA, the new 62-meter flagship and the first superyacht built by the Turkish shipyard. The ketch, which has completed sea tests off Antalya, combines classically inspired naval architecture, contemporary interiors and a hybrid propulsion system designed to tackle long voyages.

SIMENA also represents a first for Turkish boating: it is the largest sailing yacht designed and built in Turkey. The exterior design and naval architecture are signed by the Istanbul-based studio Taka Yacht Design, while the interiors have been entrusted to Design Unlimited.

A contemporary ketch with classic charm

The silhouette incorporates some typical elements of the great sailing yachts of the past, starting with the clipper bow with bowsprit, the ketch rigging and the large mahogany surfaces. The proportions, the hull and the appendages are instead developed according to contemporary criteria.

The hull is made of steel, while the superstructure uses composite materials to contain weight and lower the center of gravity. The mast reaches 59 meters above the waterline, while the mizzen mast reaches 48 meters.

The outdoor spaces are designed to experience the sea during long cruises. At the stern there is a circular Jacuzzi, large sunbathing areas and a cockpit with a dining area for 14 people. In addition to these, there is a lounge in the bow and a flybridge integrated into the superstructure, designed to keep the yacht's profile clean and slender. A side terrace of six square meters, open directly to the sea, facilitates access from the tender limousine and can also be used as a bathing platform or sunbathing area.

Five cabins and bespoke interiors

SIMENA can accommodate 12 guests. The owner's suite occupies the bow area and includes a king-size bed, walk-in closet, lounge area and a bathroom partially open to the bedroom. On the lower deck there are four other large cabins, including two VIP and a configurable twin, as well as a fifth flexible room that can be intended for guests or crew.

Design Unlimited built the interiors around a palette of dark oak, mahogany, brass, leather, and Turkish natural stones, combined with light hues and contemporary details. Many of the furnishings have been designed specifically for the yacht.

Hybrid powertrain and over 6,000 miles of range

The sail area testifies to the oceanic vocation of the project: the mainsail measures 470 square meters, the genoa 596 square meters, to which are added mizzen and staysail, all signed Doyle. During the sea trials, SIMENA reached 16 knots under sail with 20 knots of wind. The drive system also combines three 86 kW CAT generators, an 882 hp MAN diesel engine and a 220 kW electric motor. In sailing, the movement of the propeller can be used to produce electricity for on-board services.

In electric mode, the yacht can maneuver almost silently at up to 7.5 knots, while the claimed range exceeds 6,000 nautical miles. Using the MAN engine, it can reach speeds of up to 14 knots. Built according to the RINA classification and also designed for charter, SIMENA is designed to face ocean crossings and navigations from high latitudes to tropical destinations.

With the new 62-metre, ARES Yachts thus brings to the large sailing yacht segment a formula that combines sailing tradition, craftsmanship, hybrid technology and contemporary comfort, opening a new chapter in the international growth of the Antalya-based Turkish shipyard.
