Aboard Columbus Yachts' superyacht Acqua Chiara
The Milan-based studio Hot Lab, part of the Viken Group, presents Acqua Chiara, a 47-meter superyacht built by Columbus Yachts and delivered in 2025 to an Italian entrepreneur. The project stems from an original 43-metre platform, which was subsequently extended at the owner's request to refine the proportions and improve the overall balance of the boat. The result is a yacht with an immediate visual impact, capable of maintaining a gross tonnage of 499 GT and fitting coherently into the Atlantique line, while standing out for its presence and character.
The exterior lines, designed by Hot Lab, dialogue with the naval architecture of Columbus Yachts in a synthesis that makes the stern one of the most recognizable identity elements. As with the other Atlantique units, the inspiration comes from the world of sailing: taut surfaces, balanced volumes and a constant relationship with the sea. The aft spaces are developed on three closely connected levels, designed to encourage continuous and fluid use of outdoor spaces without sacrificing functionality.
From bow to stern, Acqua Chiara offers a sequence of areas designed for life on board: an elegant covered dining area, a central saloon with a swimming pool and folding balconies and, in direct contact with the water, a multifunctional platform with transformer, positioned just 50 centimetres from the waterline. A configuration that strengthens the physical and visual link with the sea and expands the possibilities of use at anchor.
Immediate livability and charter vocation
As Enrico Lumini, co-founder and design director of Hot Lab, points out, the intended use of Acqua Chiara as a high-level charter boat has decisively guided the design choices. The yacht is designed around multiple and flexible social scenarios: the upper deck can be transformed from a panoramic lounge into a cinema room, while the main common areas are designed to naturally accommodate both informal daytime life and more structured evening moments, without altering the identity of the boat.
Contemporary elegance, timeless warmth
The interiors are designed to be immediately welcoming, thanks to a bright and measured architecture, built on controlled accents, refined textures and worked surfaces. The language is classic but reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity through dark metal-effect finishes, Sicis mosaics and Vetrite panels, which add depth and refinement to the environments.
The main salon represents one of the most exclusive spaces on board: large custom-made sofas in white terry cloth with blue profiles dialogue with Fendi Totu armchairs and a teak coffee table. The white parquet floors and natural oak ceilings, partially lacquered in matt white, amplify the brightness, while the lacquered wood wall coverings with a delicate metallic effect frame the floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring constant natural light on every side of the yacht.
Next-level hospitality
Acqua Chiara accommodates up to ten guests in five cabins, served by a crew of nine. The owner's suite, located on the main deck, is conceived as a true private apartment: dark leather frames, burnished metal details and blue Galaxy glass surfaces define a sophisticated and distinctive environment. The spa-inspired en suite bathroom includes a marble bathtub and separate shower, with glass mosaic cladding.
The guest cabins, on the lower deck, take up the design DNA of the owner's suite, declining it in a more relaxed key. White marble, tactile contrasts and Sicis mosaic accents create harmonious spaces, designed to offer comfort and privacy while sailing.
An evolving design language
The third yacht in the Atlantique collaboration between Hot Lab and Columbus Yachts, Acqua Chiara marks a concrete evolution in the language of the Milanese studio. The technology is discreetly integrated into the architecture, with screens and systems hidden in the surfaces; timeless materials are combined with contemporary finishes to increase durability and aesthetic depth; The common areas are designed for day-night flexibility achieved through intelligent lighting and layout, without the need for structural reconfigurations.
