Dom Pérignon and Damien Hirst: the Limited Edition between art and Champagne
Dom Pérignon entrusts Damien Hirst with the Limited Edition dedicated to the 2026 Holidays, building the project around an element common to their respective languages: blending. On the one hand, the oenological one, which combines the grapes of a single vintage to define each Vintage of the Maison; on the other hand, the visual one of the British artist, who in the Kaleidoscope series recomposes fragmented elements in geometric and repetitive structures.
The collaboration concerns Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 and Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010, presented with two different but coordinated color identities. Intense blue accompanies Vintage 2018, while pink characterizes Rosé Vintage 2010.
Damien Hirst reinterprets the shield Dom Pérignon
The graphic starting point of the Limited Edition 2026 is the historic Dom Pérignon shield, transformed through a motif inspired by Hirst's Kaleidoscope Paintings. The shield is repeated and multiplied within the composition, generating an apparently moving structure. The reference to the kaleidoscope is not only decorative: in Hirst's research, repetition and transformation become tools to build order starting from complexity. It is precisely on this terrain that the Maison identifies the link with its creative process. In fact, Dom Pérignon is always born from a blend of grapes from a single harvest, with the aim of finding a balance between different and sometimes contrasting characteristics of the vintage.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018
The Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 is associated in the Limited Edition with the blue hue, chosen to accompany the character of the vintage. According to the Maison, 2018 was characterized by favorable climatic conditions, with good sun exposure and water availability during the vegetative cycle. The early ripening of the grapes, which took place as early as August, oriented the work of Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon towards an expression characterized by greater matter, minerality, fruit and flavor, with particular attention to the tactile sensation on the palate.
Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010
More profile and depth for the Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010, represented in the collaboration by the pink hue. The protagonist is Pinot Noir, which in the 2010 vintage assumes, according to the Maison, a particularly dense and marked presence. Rosé is thus proposed as a counterpoint to Vintage 2018: two vintages with different personalities, brought together in the same visual project.
Born in Bristol in 1965, Damien Hirst is one of the most recognizable figures in British contemporary art. His international success dates back to the exhibition Freeze, which he conceived and curated in 1988 during his studies at Goldsmiths College in London, considered one of the birth moments of the generation of Young British Artists. Throughout his career Hirst has worked on the relationships between life and death, beauty, religion and science through sculpture, painting and installation. Alongside his works in formaldehyde, the series Spot Paintings, Spin Paintings and Kaleidoscope Paintings have become particularly well-known. The latter is the direct reference for the project developed with Dom Pérignon: repeated and symmetrical shapes are organized in compositions in which visual complexity converges towards a new balance.
Dom Pérignon and collaborations with contemporary art
The meeting with Damien Hirst continues a line of collaborations that Dom Pérignon has been pursuing for almost three decades with personalities from fashion, music, art and pop culture. Since 2005, the Maison has intensified this dialogue by involving, among others, Karl Lagerfeld, Lenny Kravitz and Lady Gaga. With Hirst, the relationship between artistic creation and Champagne is developed around the concept of assemblage and the tension between rule and experimentation.
The Limited Edition Dom Pérignon x Damien Hirst 2026 thus becomes above all a project of visual identity: two vintages already defined by its oenological history are reinterpreted through one of the most recognizable languages of the British artist, transforming the Maison's packaging and shield into an integral part of the collaboration.
