Ermanno Scervino's summer: beyond the horizon, between sea, matter and rock dissonances
For summer 2027, Ermanno Scervino imagines a journey through corsair suggestions, seascapes, lived-in materials and unexpected contrasts, building a free and sensual femininity that crosses tailoring, lingerie, denim and accessories. Ermanno Scervino starts from the sea, but avoids any literal interpretation. The collection develops as a crossing made up of images, contrasts and suggestions: the essentiality of the horizon meets the dissonances of an electric guitar, while the corsair imagery mixes with cinematic and tropical references.
In Ermanno Scervino's story, a galleon, the Bounty, Marlon and Tarita appear, until they arrive on a coast at night, when the palm trees cast their shadows on the sand. It is an evocative landscape that is not transformed into costume, but translated into surfaces, colors and materials that seem to have been really crossed by wind, sun and salt.
The material thus takes on a central role. In the Ermanno Scervino Spring Summer 2027 collection, nappa leather takes on the color of burnt wood, linen mat recalls that of sails, while suede evokes the shades of ropes. The surfaces appear to be lived in and transformed by natural elements, as if the journey had left a physical trace on the garments.
The palette also follows the same logic. White moves between chalk, salt, sail and foam; blue crosses denim, ultramarine, undertow, horizon and aquamarine; the rougher shades instead recall sand, straw, gold, hemp, shell and camel. For Ermanno Scervino, color therefore becomes part of the landscape and helps to build the atmosphere of the collection rather than to define simple chromatic contrasts.
More precious elements are inserted on this material base. The intertwined ribbon of gold or copper metal threads and the chevron in ring-worked silk thread mark uniforms made of raw canvas and crocodile-printed nappa. The reference to seafaring clothing, however, is reinterpreted through lighter constructions and unexpected combinations.
One of the key elements of the collection is the corsair jacket, robust in image but soft and light in construction. Ermanno Scervino combines it with a puffy duchesse miniskirt, masculine jeans or leather shorts, building a continuous dialogue between rigor and lightness, masculine and feminine, romanticism and a more decisive attitude.
The most sensual component, on the other hand, emerges through transparencies. Under the tailcoat, the transparent trench coat or the organza storm cape, an almost mythological female figure appears, a contemporary mermaid. The silhouette takes shape through transparent knit jumpsuits, sculptural corsets and lace petticoats, elements that bring back to the language of Ermanno Scervino that constant tension between sartorial construction and lingerie.
An unexpected passenger also appears next to this figure. A starched tuxedo shirt is worn with a small skirt disarranged and gathered on itself, as if the fabric had chosen a different direction on its own. It is one of the passages that best expresses the formal freedom of the collection, where masculine and feminine codes are juxtaposed without seeking a clear separation.
The accessories continue the same exploration between travel, craftsmanship and matter. Ermanno Scervino introduces a new doctor-bag in hand-buffered nappa leather, more structured, flanking it with crochet raffia bags, wicker baskets and palm-embroidered denim shoppers.
The footwear also translates the theme through material contrasts. The clogs with sculpted toes, edged with a row of studs, rest on cork lacquered in the colors of satin petticoats. The sabot is constructed as a woven raffia net trimmed with leather, while in the boots suede and calfskin alternate with embroidered lace.
Ermanno Scervino's Spring Summer 2027 thus takes shape as a collection built more by associations than by direct quotations. The sea does not simply become a decorative theme, but acts on materials, alters colors, ideally consumes surfaces and relates apparently distant elements.
The result is a wardrobe that crosses uniforms, lingerie, tailoring, denim and handcrafted accessories without being fixed in a single identity. The figure imagined by Ermanno Scervino is mobile, free, at times romantic and at times rougher, suspended between the idea of travel, escape and transformation.
For the next season, the direction proposed by the designer is therefore clear: to look at the sea not as an already defined aesthetic repertoire, but as a space capable of transforming form, matter and proportions, letting wind, salt, light and movement enter directly into the language of the collection.
