The Gulfstream G800 sets a new record in ultra-long-haul flights
The Gulfstream G800 set a new business aviation record by completing a flight from Melbourne, Australia, to Moline, USA, a distance of 8,303 nautical miles, or 15,377 km, in 16 hours and 56 minutes.
The mission, carried out on June 28, 2026, was completed at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.85 and represents, according to Gulfstream, the farthest and fastest flight ever made in the history of business aviation.
The result comes a few days after another milestone achieved by the G800. On a route between Reykjavik and Savannah, the aircraft won the 800th city-pair record of the Gulfstream fleet, covering 2,973 nautical miles, 5,505 km, in 5 hours and 52 minutes at an average speed of Mach 0.91.
Range up to 15,186 km
Designed for ultra-long-range missions, the G800 offers a claimed range of 8,200 nautical miles, or 15,186 km, at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 nautical miles, 12,964 km, at Mach 0.90.
The business jet can also fly 8,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.87 and reaches a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935.
Entering service in August 2025, the G800 has already set 15 speed records, while the entire Gulfstream fleet has reached a total of 815.
A cabin designed for intercontinental flights
The internal configuration is also developed to tackle very long distances. At 41,000 feet, the G800 maintains a cabin altitude of 2,840 feet, about 866 meters, while the air on board is renewed to 100% every two to three minutes.
The cabin has a plasma ionization purification system and 16 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows. The interiors can be configured with up to four living areas or with three areas dedicated to passengers and a compartment reserved for the crew.
With these new results, the Gulfstream G800 consolidates its role among the business jets intended for longer intercontinental connections , combining great range, high speeds and comfort designed for long-duration missions.
