The first Cessna Citation Ascend takes to the skies with NetJets
Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. company, has reached a new milestone with the delivery of the first three Cessna Citation Ascend private jets to fleet launch customer NetJets, which becomes the first private aviation operator to receive and commission the new model, confirming its role as a benchmark in the premium private jet industry.
For those flying in private aviation, the Cessna Citation Ascend is presented as a new proposal in the midsize segment, designed to combine comfort, autonomy, operational efficiency and quality of the experience on board. The model fits into the long-standing relationship between Textron Aviation and NetJets, offering owners a natural progression to a new generation of aircraft designed for reliability, efficiency and luxury.
According to Textron Aviation, the Citation Ascend introduces new standards of performance and comfort for the midsize private jet market. Among the distinctive elements is a large and refined cabin, with a flat floor, greater freedom of movement and configuration for eight passengers. On board there is also a complete refreshment center and a large luggage compartment, designed to make the journey more comfortable on both business and leisure routes.
On the technological front, the jet is equipped with Garmin G5000 avionics, with the latest generation hardware and software, including autothrottles, which help simplify flight management. The engine is entrusted to two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545Ds, which guarantee greater thrust, reduced fuel consumption and a range of 1,940 nautical miles with four passengers on board.
The new Ascend will enter service immediately within the NetJets fleet, expanding a portfolio that over time has already included numerous models in the Citation family, including Citation S/II, Bravo, V Ultra, Encore, Encore+, VII, Excel, XLS, Sovereign, X, Latitude and Longitude. The next deliveries are expected in the months to come, as NetJets continues to strengthen its fleet.
From a travel experience perspective, the Citation Ascend brings with it many of the elements appreciated on the Citation Latitude and Citation Longitude models. These include the flat floor to improve comfort and habitability and the presence of the Honeywell RE100 [XL] auxiliary power unit, certified for unmanned operations.
The aircraft reaches a top speed of 441 knots true airspeed and, in addition to the long-range intermediate range, also offers a full fuel payload of 900 pounds (408 kg), a figure that makes it particularly attractive for customers who require operational flexibility and continuity of service.
Textron Aviation will partner operators like NetJets with a global aftermarket service network built to support high-utilization fleets. Support includes 20 owned service centers, 21 authorized centers, over 40 mobile service units, and AOG 24/7 support. This is complemented by a parts distribution network that provides quick access to more than 150,000 part numbers, with the aim of maximising aircraft availability and reducing downtime.
For NetJets' frequent Travellers, the arrival of the Citation Ascend means access to a new midsize jet that aims to further elevate the private flying experience, combining performance, technology and a cabin designed to offer premium comfort at every stage of the journey.
