Starlink arrives on Hawker 700, 800 and 900 business jets
Operators of the Hawker 700, 800 and 900 series business jets can now install Starlink on their aircraft. Textron Aviation announced the availability of the upgrade following the release by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) developed by AeroMech.
The intervention uses the Starlink Aviation Performance Kit, connected to Starlink's constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). The solution is designed to maintain the connection even during flights over the sea and in remote areas where traditional aeronautical Wi-Fi systems may have limited coverage.
Up to 1Gbps connection on board the Hawkers
According to data communicated by Textron Aviation, the system can reach a download speed of up to 1 Gbps, upload speeds of up to 100 Mbps and a minimum latency of 20 milliseconds. Performance that allows data-intensive applications to be used on board, including video calls, streaming and other online services. For business aviation passengers, it means above all being able to use the cabin as a connected work environment even during longer routes or on routes with reduced ground coverage. The introduction of Starlink is particularly relevant for a fleet like the Hawker fleet, consisting of aircraft that continue to be used by private and commercial operators and can thus be upgraded with next-generation connectivity systems without replacing the aircraft.
Where to install Starlink on Hawkers
Hawker 700, 800 and 900 operators can already schedule installation of the Starlink Aviation Performance Kit at Textron Aviation Service Centers in North America and at select international service centers. Availability for Hawkers is in addition to other aftermarket Starlink applications already introduced by Textron Aviation on several Cessna Citation and Beechcraft models.
The extension of the STC to the Hawker family therefore expands the possibilities of upgrading business jets built in previous generations, intervening on one of the most requested aspects on board today: a high-speed internet connection that can be used during the entire journey.
