The Marsa Matrouh Airport was constructed during the British occupation period and then it was handed over to the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority in 1945. Egypt Air used to organize summer flights between Cairo and Marsa Matrouh, it is used as civilian and military airport.
It is located 5 km away from the city and includes a small terminal with a capacity of 300 passengers per hour and it contains a runway of 3 meters length.
