Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, FKB

Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden Airport is Karlsruhe International Airport in the German state of Baden-Württemberg and also serves the city of Baden-Baden. By number of passengers it is the second largest airport in Germany after the airport of the city of Stuttgart and offers flights to various destinations.

Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden Airport is located in Rheinmünster 40 km from Karlsruhe, 12 km from Baden-Baden, 25 km from Haguenau and 25 km from Strasbourg in France.

The construction, initially as a military airport, dates back to 1951 in the Upper Rhine plain between the Black Forest and the River Rhine, while the runway and facilities were completed in 1952. Baden Airpark GmbH subsequently took over the former airport military, transforming it into a regional airport which is now part of the Baden Airpark which offers various commercial services and also the B&B Hotel Baden-Airpark which is located directly in front of the passenger terminal. Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden Airport has a passenger terminal with check-in counters and departure gates, as well as shops, restaurants and other passenger services.

The airport's first commercial flight dates back to 2001 and in 2012 Ryanair opened its base in Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden, inaugurating low cost routes to various destinations in Europe. Other low cost airlines also fly from the airport such as Wizz Air and Eurowings.
