Wizz Air focuses on a more sustainable fleet
Wizz Air celebrates the arrival of its 200th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, an Airbus A321XLR, marking a new milestone in the airline's growth and fleet renewal journey.
Since the delivery of the first Airbus A321neo in 2019, Wizz Air has progressively expanded its fleet with next-generation aircraft, focusing on increased capacity, operational efficiency and a reduction in emissions intensity per seat.
Once the currently scheduled deliveries are completed, Wizz Air's neo fleet will consist of 6 Airbus A320neos, 186 Airbus A321neos and 8 Airbus A321XLR. The A321neo model, thanks to its high-capacity configuration, plays a central role in Wizz Air's ultra-low-cost strategy, allowing it to optimize every flight and offer competitive fares on an expanding network.
Powered by next-generation Pratt & Whitney engines, the A321neo delivers up to 20 percent reduction in fuel burn and CO₂ emissions per seat compared to previous-generation aircraft. The efficiency of the aircraft also contributes to quieter operations, with a lower noise impact in areas close to airports.
The benefits also concern the experience on board. The more spacious cabin, quieter environment and better air quality make the journey more comfortable for passengers, accompanying the company's evolution towards a more modern and efficient fleet.
In the coming years, Wizz Air will continue its expansion plan, supported by the additional A321neo already ordered. The company thus confirms its goal of using more advanced technologies to increase efficiency, support the path to net zero and extend its network in Europe and beyond.
