ITA Airways publishes the first sustainability report

The document illustrates the younger fleet (average age 6.6 years), 65% renewal with new generation aircraft and a 22.8% reduction in CO₂/RPK emissions compared to 2022

ITA Airways has announced the publication of its first Sustainability Report, prepared for the 2024 financial year, confirming a concrete commitment to responsible and transparent growth, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Although not subject to regulatory obligations for 2024, the Company has voluntarily chosen to anticipate the application of the requirements of EU legislation, demonstrating its willingness to adopt advanced standards and to put transparency at the heart of its sustainable transition path.

Sustainability Reporting represents the public disclosure of corporate performance in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas, providing stakeholders with consistent and verifiable qualitative and quantitative information. The document was drawn up according to the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) principles provided for by EU Directive 2022/2464 CSRD, which aims to standardize ESG reporting by ensuring comparability and clarity among European companies.

ITA Airways is therefore an active part of the sustainable transition of the airline sector. The document presents the integration of sustainability into the Company's business model, a key element of its Business Plan, together with the main results achieved as at 31 December 2024.

Fleet renewal and environmental results

Among the most significant milestones is the significant fleet renewal plan, which has led to:

  • an average age of 6.6 years, among the lowest in Europe;
  • 65% of new generation aircraft, capable of reducing CO₂ emissions by 20–25% compared to previous aircraft;
  • 74% of aircraft certified Chapter 14, the most stringent ICAO standard in terms of noise reduction.

Thanks to the efficiency strategies adopted, compared to 2022, a 22.8% reduction in CO₂/RPK emissions (grams of CO₂ per Revenue Passenger Kilometre) was recorded, a result that testifies to the effectiveness of the measures implemented. Ita Airways' Sustainability Report, with all the results and objectives for 2024, can be consulted online in the dedicated section of the airline's official website.
