Emirates awarded at JFK for quietest flights
Emirates has been awarded the prestigious Gold Tier award under New York's JFK Airport Fly Quiet 2024 programme, making it the only airline to receive this honour. With a score of 92.9, Emirates clearly outperformed the other carriers operating at the airport, distinguishing itself for excellence in the acoustic management of flight operations.
The Fly Quiet program, sponsored by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is a voluntary initiative that encourages airlines to reduce the impact of noise through quieter next-generation aircraft, optimized take-off and landing procedures, and the use of preferential runways.
Emirates' commitment translates into low-noise flights, thanks to its all-wide-body fleet, consisting of the latest generation A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft, which operate efficiently on long-haul routes with a single take-off and landing for thousands of passengers, thus reducing the overall number of sound events.
The company has been working with the Port Authority and airport authorities for years to constantly improve its environmental performance, including through continuous monitoring of noise levels and pilot training on noise abatement procedures (NADP).
This new recognition follows other Emirates awards for sustainable mobility, environmental friendliness and an increasingly responsible flying experience, such as Silver Tier status at Newark Airport (EWR) and the Chairperson's Award from the San Francisco Fly Quiet (SFO) programme.
