Bergamo, winter is here
The ideal tourist destination for the winter.
Sponsored by Visit Bergamo
When the air becomes crisp and everything is tinged with white, the mountains around Bergamo reach their maximum splendour. And if the whiteness of snow joins the glitter of lights and Christmas markets, the scenery is pure magic. Three valleys with twelve ski resorts, over 300 km of slopes and 14 cross-country ski tracks make the Orobic Prealps the ideal destination for winter sports lovers.
Easily reachable from the Milan - Bergamo airport, the ski resorts offer everything you could want from a holiday. You’ll find modern ski lifts, cosy mountain refuges where you can taste typical dishes, hotels and spas to find the perfect balance after a day on the slopes.
And that’s not all... Numerous events animate the mountain resorts. Snowshoeing in the moonlight, night skiing, snowmobile tours, dinners in the mountain refuges arriving on board a snowcat, mulled wine in front of the fireplace, DJ sets and happy hour on the refuge terraces, on the edge of the slopes.
Don’t miss Foppolo, in the Brembana Valley. It is easy to get to and is the most renowned ski resort in the Bergamo area. Guaranteed snow coverage, 18 lifts and just under fifty ski slopes. Together with Carona and San Simone it is the largest ski area in the province.
In the Seriana Valley, Monte Pora, with its constantly sun-kissed slopes, offers a breathtaking view of Lake Iseo and over the slopes. The Pora Park is a well-equipped snow park ideal for snowboarding. Castione della Presolana is perfect for families with children who want to try skiing, with its gentle slopes and slopes specially equipped for children. In addition, until January, Castione hosts the famous Christmas markets, with wooden houses, elves and many events with music and entertainment.
Beyond the Presolana, the Queen of the Orobie, is Colere, the "pearl" of the Scalve Valley. It is one of the largest ski resorts in the area, suitable for beginners but also offering great satisfaction to the more experienced skiers. If you love Nordic skiing, Schilpario’s Pista degli Abeti, in the Scalve Valley, is just the place for you. A 10km loop in a forest of centuries-old firs, dotted with bridges and crossed by the Dezzo river. Also, don’t miss Lizzola, Piazzatorre and Valtorta - Piani di Bobbio and Selvino, where fun is guaranteed for everyone.
