Simulator for driving service vehicles at Milan Bergamo airport
The airport management company SACBO is the first in Italy to equip itself with the simulator for driving road service vehicles within the airport grounds
Milan Bergamo Airport was the first in Italy to introduce a simulator for driving road service vehicles in operational areas, positioning itself as a pioneer in the sector and second in Europe after Brussels International Airport. Its use is linked to the issuance of airport licenses.
This milestone demonstrates the management company's commitment to airport security and provided the opportunity to organize, at the auditorium of SACBO's executive offices, a workshop dedicated to the theme "Advanced technologies and new regulations to improve security in the airport's operational areas".

The event, organized in collaboration with Milan Bergamo Airport, TXT Group (developer of the driving simulation software) and the IFSC (Italian Flight Safety Committee, an Italian association of experts in flight safety), was attended by representatives of the national (ENAC) and European (EASA) aviation authorities, responsible for the regulation of airport ground handling services.

The workshop focused on optimizing the safety of operations in aircraft movement areas and operational zones, analyzing recent regulatory developments related to ground handling services. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about the features and benefits of using the Airside Driving Simulator for wheeled vehicles, an innovation introduced by the airport operator to further raise safety standards. This technology represents an important step forward, both procedurally and technologically, to ensure a safer and more efficient management of airport operations.

The works were inaugurated by the speeches of Amelia Corti, General Manager of SACBO, and Roberta Carli, Bergamo Territorial Director of ENAC - National Civil Aviation Authority. The day was coordinated by Lorenzo Mezzadri, President of the IFSC, and included significant contributions on the topic of the new regulation, with reports by Adina Szonyi of EASA and Giuseppe Ignoti of ENAC. Thanks to this meeting, it was possible to promote a constructive discussion between the main players in the sector, highlighting the added value of new technologies and updated regulations for the continuous improvement of safety in airport operating areas.
