Pisa Airport, inauguration of the new Arrivals Terminal
The Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa has inaugurated the new Arrivals Terminal, the first step in the broader expansion and redevelopment project of the airport managed by Toscana Aeroporti. After the testing phase, the arrival operations will be transferred to the new building, allowing for a clearer separation of the flows of arriving and departing passengers.
The new facility covers approximately 7,100 square meters and is equipped with a 300 kW photovoltaic system installed on the roof. For Travellers, the main change will be tidier routes and more efficient management of terminal operations.
Once the transfer of arrivals is completed, the current terminal will be progressively converted to be used only for departures, freeing up spaces that will subsequently be renovated as part of the subsequent phases of the project.
The new Arrivals Terminal represents only the first of the three phases envisaged by the Galilei development program, for a total investment of about 80 million euros, financed by Toscana Aeroporti. The works will continue until 2028. Once completed, the total area of the terminal will reach about 50,600 square meters, with an increase of 28% compared to the previous configuration. The capacity of the airport will rise to about 6-7 million passengers per year.
The planned interventions also include the expansion of the boarding area, which will go from about 3,150 to over 6,500 square meters, new spaces dedicated to food & retail and further investments in digitization, comfort and sustainability.
The new terminal also comes at a time of growth in traffic to Pisa. In the first nine months of 2026, the Galilei exceeded 5 million passengers for the first time, an increase of 6.6% compared to the same period in 2025; September recorded about 664 thousand Travellers.
For those who use Pisa airport, the project therefore aims above all to improve the distribution of flows, increase the available space and make the experience between arrivals, departures, boarding areas and commercial services more functional.
