A transit space transformed, for one morning, into a concert hall. At Milan Linate airport, one of the first appointments of Piano City Milano 2026 brought live music to the Departures area, involving passengers traveling and Milanese citizens who arrived at the airport to attend the event.

The protagonist of the concert was the pianist Claudio Maviglia, who proposed a repertoire dedicated to the most famous soundtracks in the history of cinema.

A musical journey capable of crossing generations and collective imaginations, evoking films, memories and emotions through the immediate and universal language of the piano.

The event, with free admission and included in the widespread program of Piano City Milano, confirmed the vocation of the event to bring music to unconventional places in the city. For Milano Linate (LIN) this is the second participation in the festival, while for Claudio Maviglia it was the first performance in an airport.

In the bright and dynamic setting of the Departures area, the public was able to listen to some of the most beloved melodies of the big screen: from Nuovo Cinema Paradiso by Ennio Morricone to Life is Beautiful by Nicola Piovani, from Il Postino by Luis Bacalov to Moon River by Henry Mancini, up to Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen. Songs that have entered the collective memory, reinterpreted in an intimate and evocative dimension, far from the traditional idea of the concert in the hall.

The presence of music at the airport added value to the Travellers' experience, offering a moment of pause, listening and beauty before departure. Linate, Milan's city airport, welcomed passengers and visitors with a cultural initiative capable of making the time spent at the airport more exciting.

A pianist with a refined sensibility, Claudio Maviglia began studying piano at the age of seven. After a classical training, he oriented his path towards jazz and modern music, deepening his studies with the pianist Sante Palumbo and participating in international seminars with important interpreters of the Italian and American jazz scene, including Jerry Bergonzi, Enrico Pieranunzi and Franco D'Andrea. During his career he has taught at the Music Academy of Bergamo and has been the protagonist of events such as Bergamo Jazz and Piano City Milano.

The Piano City Milano 2026 concert at Linate offered a concrete example of how an airport can also become a place of culture, meeting and sharing, enriching the journey with an unexpected experience even before take-off.
