Vueling expands flights from Italy to Barcelona and Bilbao
Vueling is strengthening its connections between Spain and Italy for the 2026 winter season, with more than 250,000 additional seats on routes operated from its bases in Barcelona and Bilbao. The company, part of the IAG group, thus consolidates its presence on the Italian market and expands travel possibilities between some of the main Italian cities and two strategic airports of its network in Spain.
The enhancement concerns Bilbao in particular, where Vueling introduces four new direct connections with Italy: Rome, Venice, Naples and Turin. The new routes will add around 89,000 seats during the winter season and will allow Italian travellers to reach the Basque Country more easily, an increasingly popular destination for city breaks, cultural tourism, gastronomy and itineraries in Northern Spain.
The Bilbao-Rome route, already operational in the summer season until 13 September, will also be extended in winter. From 25 October, the connection will be available four times a week, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
From 25 October, the new Bilbao-Venice flights will also depart, operating three times a week, on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, and Bilbao-Turin, with two weekly frequencies, on Thursdays and Sundays. The Bilbao-Naples connection will start on 4 December, with three flights a week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
Vueling will offer up to 31 annual routes from Bilbao airport, 17 of which are international, strengthening its leadership in the Basque airport, where it carries one in two travellers and has exceeded 30 million passengers in total.
For Italian passengers, the strengthening of the network means a greater choice of direct connections, more weekly frequencies and new opportunities to reach Bilbao for both leisure and business needs. The Basque city is also an ideal access point to discover the Guggenheim Museum, the historic centre, the Atlantic coast, San Sebastián and the food and wine routes of the Basque Country.
Vueling is also increasing its operations between Bilbao and Milan, which will increase to seven weekly frequencies, with one flight per day and over 55,000 seats available.
The strengthening of the Italian offer also concerns the Barcelona base, where Vueling will increase flights to three destinations: Naples, Turin and Palermo. On the Barcelona-Naples route, frequencies will increase from 14 to 21 per week; Turin will add 6 frequencies, reaching 11 weekly flights; Palermo will instead have 8 weekly frequencies, 3 more than last winter.
Already in the second half of the summer, between 15 September and 24 October, the company will also increase the frequencies from Barcelona to Turin, from 5 to 11 weekly flights, and to Palermo, from 7 to 11 weekly frequencies. Overall, Vueling adds more than 150,000 additional seats on the connections from Barcelona to Naples, Turin and Palermo, reaching a total offer of more than 330,000 seats.
