Volotea takes off from Bari to Bordeaux
The distances between Puglia and France are shortened with the launch of the new direct Bari-Bordeaux flight operated by Volotea, an airline specializing in connections between medium-sized cities in Europe. Starting from Saturday 31 May, it is possible to fly twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays – between the two destinations, thanks to a new route that strengthens the internationalization of Bari airport.
The new flight represents a strategic opportunity for incoming and outgoing tourism, offering over 16,200 seats for summer 2025 and allowing Apulian travelers to discover one of the most elegant cities in France, famous for its fine wines, vibrant cultural scene and UNESCO-listed architecture. At the same time, French tourists will be able to easily reach the beaches, historic villages and food and wine excellences of Puglia.
"With the first flight from Bari to Bordeaux we celebrate a new bridge between Italy and France," said Valeria Rebasti, International Market Director of Volotea. "We continue to invest in the tourism potential of Puglia, expanding routes to European destinations of great charm".
Antonio Maria Vasile, president of Aeroporti di Puglia, also underlined the importance of the connection:
"This new flight is the result of careful planning shared with the Puglia Region. Bordeaux, today one of the most dynamic markets for Apulian tourism, has been identified as a priority objective. The agreement with Volotea and the strategy of expanding our network are leading to excellent results in terms of traffic and international visibility".
The Bari–Bordeaux route is part of a context of significant growth for Volotea in Puglia. The carrier, for summer 2025, will operate 14 destinations from Bari, 13 of which are international:
- Italy: Olbia
- France: Bordeaux and Lyon
- Spain: Bilbao
- Croatia: Dubrovnik and Split
- Greece: Athens, Kefalonia (from July), Corfu, Heraklion, Mykonos, Preveza/Lefkada, Santorini, Zakynthos
Volotea further strengthens its role as a bridge between Southern Italy and Europe, while offering travelers increasingly accessible cultural and tourist experiences.
