New Catania-Vilnius route with Wizz Air
Wizz Air has inaugurated the new direct flight between Catania and Vilnius, creating an unprecedented bridge between Sicily and Lithuania. The service kicked off on Monday, May 5, 2025 and is operated twice a week, every Monday and Friday, ensuring Sicilian travelers convenient access to the Lithuanian capital, and vice versa.
The activation of this new route in Catania represents a key step in Wizz Air's expansion strategy in Italy and contributes to strengthening Sicily's international connectivity. The company thus continues to diversify the travel options for its passengers, making available for summer 2025 over 200 routes from Italy to 80 destinations in 32 countries, for a record total of 13 million seats offered at competitive rates.
Vilnius, the charming capital of Lithuania, is the ideal destination for those looking for a city break or an immersive cultural experience. Its historic centre, one of the largest in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, captivates with its cobbled streets, baroque churches and lively atmosphere. Among the must-see stops are Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Castle with its breathtaking views, and the bohemian district of Užupis, famous for its declaration of artistic independence. The experience is completed by walks along the Neris River and the many cafes and museums that animate the city.
With this new route, Wizz Air strengthens its commitment to promoting increasingly widespread and accessible international mobility, consolidating the strategic role of Sicily - and in particular of Catania Airport, one of the company's five Italian operational bases - in its vision of growth on the European market.
