Air Arabia welcomes its first Airbus A320neo

The aircraft enters service with its first commercial flight between Sharjah and Bangkok, inaugurating deliveries of the order of 120 A320 aircraft with Airbus

Air Arabia has announced the arrival of its first Airbus A320neo, part of the 120-a-family A320 family maxi-order signed with Airbus in 2019.

The new A320neo entered service on 1 October 2025, operating the first commercial flight from Sharjah to Bangkok. The arrival of the plane was celebrated with an official ceremony at Sharjah International Airport (SHJ).

The new A320neo joins the existing fleet of 83 A320 aircraft, marking the start of deliveries: the contract includes 73 A320neos, 27 A321neos and 20 A321XLR. The investment confirms the company's long-term strategy to expand its route network, increase the environmentally sustainable efficiency of its operations and strengthen its presence in key markets.

The delivery is part of Air Arabia's second direct order to Airbus, following the 2007 order with 49 A320s. The new aircraft will strengthen the group's multi-hub operations in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Morocco, Egypt and Pakistan (Fly Jinnah), complementing the leased aircraft already in the fleet and ensuring greater efficiency on growing routes. Further deliveries are expected by the end of 2025.

Powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and Airbus' signature Sharklets, the A320neo delivers a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, in line with the airline's sustainability programme and growth strategy.

The aircraft retains the single-class configuration with 174 seats, offering one of the largest spaces between seats in economy class to ensure passenger comfort. With a range of up to six hours of flight time, it expands Air Arabia's ability to serve more distant destinations.
