flydubai expands fleet and renews Boeing 737 MAX cabins
flydubai embarks on a new phase of growth with the aim of exceeding 100 aircraft in its fleet and improving the on-board travel experience. In 2026, the airline will receive 11 new Boeing 737 MAXs, including seven 737-9 MAXs and four 737-8 MAXs, as part of the capacity modernization and expansion plan.
The new aircraft will allow flydubai to progressively replace older aircraft, increase supply on routes with greater demand and support network expansion.
More Business Class seats on Boeing 737-9 MAX
flydubai's Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft will be configured with 16 seats in Business Class and 156 in Economy Class. On some 737-8 MAXs, Business Class has 10 seats.
The increase in premium capacity will allow the airline to respond to the demand for Business Class on major international routes and to more flexibly distribute available seats on the frequencies already in operation.
New cabins on 21 aircraft
A new phase of the retrofit program will also start in September. Over the next 12 months, 21 Boeing 737 MAXs currently equipped with lie-flat seats in Business Class will receive flydubai fully flatbed seats, improving comfort especially on longer flights.
The intervention will also include new Boeing Space Bins, overhead bins capable of holding up to six standard bags compared to the four of traditional solutions. For passengers, this means more space for hand luggage and potentially easier boarding.
The new program continues Flydubai's previous investment in cabin refurbishment, which had already affected the entire Boeing 737-800 fleet with new seats in Business and Economy Class and updated entertainment systems.
