Salerno inaugurates the new General Aviation terminal
The Salerno Costa d'Amalfi and Cilento Airport has inaugurated the new General Aviation Terminal, a structure designed to strengthen the services dedicated to private, business and premium flights in Campania. The terminal is already operational for general aviation and represents a new step in the airport's growth path.
The new terminal was built in two years with a total investment of 14.2 million euros. The facility spans 2,000 square meters and is designed to accommodate up to 1.5 million passengers. Starting from November 2026, on the occasion of the scheduled closure of Naples Airport for the redevelopment of the runway, the terminal will also be used for commercial flights.
For passengers, the new infrastructure means more dedicated services, modern spaces and greater integration of the Salerno airport into the Campania airport system. Salerno will thus be able to support Naples in a complementary way, offering a closer gateway to some of the most sought-after tourist areas of Southern Italy, from the Amalfi Coast to Cilento and the World Heritage Sites of Campania.
The project was developed according to criteria of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The terminal integrates materials linked to the identity of the territory, including local ceramics, and is equipped with a photovoltaic system which, when fully operational, will cover about 40% of the building's energy needs. The interior spaces are also enriched by the works of the visual artist Marco Pio Mucci from Campania, in a path that combines contemporary art, local identity and innovation.
To support private aviation, GESAC, the management company of Salerno airport, established Aviagold, a wholly owned subsidiary of the airport operator, in 2025. The new reality offers specialized handling, concierge and hospitality services for a high-end international clientele, with the aim of positioning Salerno as a reference port in the Mediterranean for private and business traffic.
