Milano Prime: 2021 closes with traffic growth of 74%

In addition to growth, Milano Prime's focus is on sustainability to contribute to the decarbonisation process of the global business aviation sector
SEA Prime which, with the Milano Prime brand, is a leading business aviation airport manager in Italy and Europe, recorded over 27,000 business aviation movements at Linate and Malpensa in 2021, with peaks of over 160 daily movements during the fashion and design events in Milano.

Thanks to the increase of traffic, notably from the summer months, Milano Prime grew 74% compared to 2020 - higher than both the Italian average (+ 58%) and the European one (+ 37%) - and the 11% compared to 2019. Two-thirds of the traffic in 2021 was international and one-third domestic. There was also a
significant recovery in traffic from the Middle East, Russia the USA. Globally, business aviation has been able to give a prompt response to the growing demand for both business and leisure flights with often first-time users passengers.

To the positive numbers recorded by SEA Prime in 2021 contributed the key events held in presence in Milano – the Fashion Week, the Design Week as well as sports events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Champions League matches hosted by the Milanese soccer teams. An increasing number of sports teams and VVIP are demanding Malpensa Prime terminal and its dedicated fast-track services.

The year ended with the first refuelling at Milano Linate Prime of Jet A1+Eni SAF. Milano Linate Prime thus becomes the first business aviation airport in Italy, and one of the first in Europe to offer SAF, an important milestone contributing to the decarbonisation process of the global business aviation sector, in line with the strategy of the company and of the SEA Group.

“The growth of business aviation at Milano Prime and the factors that have determined it can be seen as a structural trend at a global level. The building of a new hangar of approximately 4,500 square meters, the eleventh of the apron, will begin shortly at Milan Linate Prime, which we expect will be completed this year. The masterplan foresees new hangars dedicated to private jets in response to the strong demand for infrastructures for the development of our business" said Chiara Dorigotti CEO of SEA Prime.
