Yerevan

Yerevan Airport, also known as Zvartnots International Airport for its proximity to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Zvartnots, is the main airport of Armenia and is located near the municipality of Parakar, about 10 km from the city of Yerevan.

 

 

Yerevan Airport was inaugurated in 1961 and subsequently renovated both in 1970 and 1980 with the opening of a new terminal. From 2000 onwards, several works were started for the renewal of the runway, a new arrivals hall, a new departure terminal, new security systems, passenger check-in, renovation of the VIP lounges and an underground car park. The new terminal started operating in 2011 with modern technological and security systems.

 

 

Since 2002, airport operations have been managed by Armenia International Airports CJSC, owned by the Argentine Corporación America of the Armenian Argentine businessman Eduardo Eurnekian.

Bus service between the airport the center of Yerevan and vice versa. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes to the terminus on Amiryan street and with stops along Mashtots Avenue and Yeritasardakan Station, where the Yerevan metro is located and also in Republic Square.

 

 

The main car rental companies at the airport include: Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.
