Newcastle Airport serves the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in England, United Kingdom, and is located approximately 12 km from the city centre. The airport mainly serves the counties of Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Northumberland in north-east England, as well as Cumbria in north-west England and the Scottish Borders area in southern Scotland.
 
Several airlines operate at Newcastle airport that connect the airport to national and international destinations. Among the airlines are: Ryanair, easyjet, Eurowings, Jet2.com, Emirates, Aer Lingus, Air France, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa or Tui Airways.
 
In the terminal there are all the services for passengers as well as bars, restaurants, shops, duty free and the Aspire Lounge.
 
The airport is committed to decarbonising the airport, with a goal of net zero by 2035 and aims to plant over 8,000 trees, have renewable energy on site, switch to an electric fleet and much more.
 
Newcastle Airport in 2019, was named the best airport in Europe serving between 5 million and 15 million passengers annually by Airports Council International (ACI) for the second consecutive year. Newcastle International Airport is operated as a public-private partnership between seven local authorities in the North East Region and InfraBridge, each holding a 51% and 49% stake respectively in the company.

Train
Newcastle International Airport is well connected to the North Eastern rail network by Metro service. The journey from Newcastle Central Station to Newcastle Airport takes approximately 25 minutes. There are trains every 12 minutes from approximately 5.44am (Sundays 6.27am) to 11.58pm. Travelers using the tube to get to the airport from Newcastle Central Station can go to the tube station below the train station. From there they can purchase a ticket (if required) from the vending machines and board a train on the Green Line bound for the airport station.
 
Metro
Tyne and Wear Metro, at Newcastle International Airport, is a light rail system with 60 stations serving Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside.
  • To Newcastle city centre
The journey to Newcastle city center (Haymarket, Monument or Central Station) takes approximately 25 minutes. There are trains every 12 minutes from approximately 5.39am (Sundays 6.26am) to 11.09pm.
  • To Sunderland
The journey to Sunderland tube station takes approximately 55 minutes. There are trains every 12 minutes (Evening and Sunday every 15 minutes) from approximately 5.39am to 10.54pm..

Car 
  • From the north:
The A1 is the main road linking to the A696 dual carriageway which leads directly to Newcastle International Airport. From Edinburgh, the A68/A696 provides a direct route to the airport. Recent upgrades to the A74 between Glasgow and Carlisle now make traveling to Newcastle International Airport even easier.
  • From the south:
Head north on the A1 - the road bypasses Newcastle city center and connects with the revamped A696 to the airport.
  • From the west:
The A69 connects with the A1 and then the A696, providing a direct route to Newcastle International Airport.
 
Bikes
Newcastle International Airport offers free bicycle parking opposite international arrivals in the short-term parking area. There are several routes to the airport via bike lanes throughout the northeast.
 
Car rental
All offices are located on the ground floor of Newcastle Airport opposite Domestic Arrivals. Among the main car rental companies at the airport there are: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, National, Europcar and Hertz.
 
Taxi
