Banja Luka

Banja Luka International Airport is located in Mahovljani about 23 km from the city of Banja Luka, in the region of the same name. By number of passengers Banja Luka airport is the fourth in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the airports of Sarajevo, Tuzla and of the city of Mostar.

Construction of Banja Luka International Airport began in 1976 and in 1997 the terminal was opened to civilian air traffic. The airport facilities were improved between 2002 and 2003, on the occasion of Pope John Paul II's visit to Banja Luka in June 2003.
 
Several low cost airlines fly from Banja Luka airport such as Air Serbia, Ryanair and Wizz Air which fly to European destinations.
