Bergamo. Donizetti Opera 2018
International festival 2018 from 20th November to 2nd December 2018 - Bergamo
Dedicated to the Bergamask composer Gaetano Donizetti, the festival offers two weeks of events in Bergamo. The programme, prepared by the artistic director Francesco Micheli, takes place from 20th November to 2nd December at the Teatro Sociale and other places around the city. The festival envisages two opera titles with new productions interwoven around “Dies Natalis“, and various daily events, including auditions open to under thirties, shows for children, chamber music and sacred or vocal repertoire concerts.
The inauguration is on 22nd November at the Teatro Sociale with a Gala Concert dedicated to Donizetti and Rossini on the 150th anniversary of his death. The musical director of the festival is Riccardo Frizza, who is making his debut in Bergamo on the podium of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra with the Donizetti Choir, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona and soprano Jessica Pratt.
