BGY Airport Granfondo celebrates women in Bergamo

At the arrivals area of Milan Bergamo Airport, a meeting dedicated to the role of women in cycling, sport and work, in view of the Granfondo on 10 May 2026

In view of International Women's Day, the BGY Airport Granfondo celebrated the role of women in cycling, sport and work with a press conference hosted in the arrivals area of Milan Bergamo Airport, the main sponsor of the event.

The initiative, promoted for the second consecutive year together with partners and institutions, focused on projects dedicated to women and the contribution of those who work behind the scenes of the event, scheduled for Sunday 10 May 2026 in Bergamo under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation.

The meeting was attended by the president of SACBO Giovanni Sanga, the general manager Amelia Corti and numerous representatives of local and regional institutions. Also present was the journalist and sports author Luciana Rota, who brought a testimony on the challenges still open in women's sport.

During the morning, a brochure dedicated to the "Women of the Granfondo" was distributed, created to enhance all the female figures involved in the organization of the event. Among the symbols recalled was the red bench, a sign of commitment against gender-based violence.

Since 1996, the Bergamo Granfondo has also been open to women and continues to promote an increasingly wide participation. The message launched by this day is clear: supporting women's cycling means investing not only in equal opportunities, but also in the social and cultural development of the territory.
