Direct flight London - Jeddah with Wizz Air
The new low-cost intercontinental flight takes off from London Gatwick Airport to the Saudi Arabian city from 31 March 2025
Wizz Air has announced the arrival of its first Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) to Wizz Air UK's fleet at London Gatwick Air Base. The new aircraft will arrive in March 2025 and will mark the beginning of a new era for intercontinental travel with the launch of a direct flight from London Gatwick to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Thanks to the increased range and efficiency of the Airbus A321XLR, the airline will be able to offer direct flights to distant destinations at lower prices. Tickets are available now on wizzair.com and via the official Wizz Air app, with prices starting from £134.99**.
The new route, lasting almost 7 hours, will be the first of many that will take advantage of the extended capabilities of the Airbus A321XLR. Another aircraft of the same model will be based in Italy and, starting from 2 June 2025, will operate a daily flight between Milan Malpensa airport and Abu Dhabi.
The decision to award Airbus A321XLR to London Gatwick Base demonstrates Wizz Air's commitment to strengthening its presence in the UK. Since opening its second UK base at London Gatwick Airport in October 2020, the airline has continued to expand its operations at the airport, with a fleet of five Airbus A321neo serving 26 destinations in 17 countries and a team of 259 employees.
The close collaboration with the London Gatwick team has been crucial to Wizz Air's rapid growth in the UK. The company recently celebrated the milestone of seven million passengers through the airport. In 2024, Wizz Air's flight completion rate in the UK reached 99.5%, with 100% completion recorded during February and May. In addition, the punctuality of flights to and from the UK increased by 11%, reaching 70%, while flight cancellations were reduced by 28%.
**One-way price, inclusive of taxes, administration fees and other non-optional charges. One carry-on bag (max: 40x30x20cm) is included. The trolley and any checked baggage are subject to additional charges. The price only applies to bookings made on wizzair.com and the WIZZ mobile app.
