New Market Place at Terminal 1 Berlin Brandenburg
Berlin BER Airport will significantly expand Terminal 1's Duty Free and Travel Value offering thanks to the renewal of its partnership with Gebr. Heinemann. The project will affect the Market Place located after the security checks, which will be progressively transformed from autumn 2026.
The retail area will reach about 3,800 square meters, with a wider commercial offer and a new catering area directly overlooking the apron, where passengers will be able to stop while observing the movements of the aircraft.
The project also includes new seating, optimized passenger information and a redesigned play area, with the aim of making the Market Place a central point of the pre-flight experience at Terminal 1.
The works will be carried out in several phases and are expected to be completed by the end of 2028. During the construction site, both airport operations and commercial activities will continue without interruption.
For Travellers, the main change will therefore be greater integration between shopping, dining and waiting spaces, with services concentrated in the airside area of the terminal.
