Travel to iconic destinations
More and more travellers are looking for cultural attractions and iconic landscapes, but not limited to the most popular destinations. According to Booking.com research, 29% of Travellers plan to visit a new landmark during their trips this year, while 43% want to avoid overcrowded tourist destinations and choose more authentic alternatives.
For those who want scenic itineraries, local culture and less obvious places, five destinations are ideal destinations to consider: Cappadocia in Turkey, Cusco in Peru, Page in Arizona, Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy and Zhangjiajie in China.
Mont-Saint-Michel, France
Mont-Saint-Michel is one of the most evocative places in Normandy. The island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies between the tidal flats of the French coast and is dominated by a medieval abbey visible from afar.
The charm of the destination changes with the tides, including sandbars, water, morning mist and golden light at sunset. The visit can be included in a wider itinerary in Normandy, including coastal villages, local markets, oysters, cheeses, crêpes, cider and Calvados.
Where to stay
For those who want to explore the area, La Coque d'Or is an apartment in the center of Le Mont-Saint-Michel, suitable for those looking for a convenient base to visit the island and the region.
Cappadocia, Turkey
Cappadocia is famous for its "fairy chimneys", volcanic rock formations shaped by erosion over millennia. The region offers underground cities, cave churches, scenic valleys, and rock-cut hotels.
Here you can explore Göreme National Park, visit the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymaklı, take part in a hot air balloon flight at sunrise or travel through the valleys on foot and on horseback. The local gastronomy adds an additional reason for travel, with dishes such as testi kebab and gözleme.

Choquequirao requires a multi-day trek from Cachora, passing through remote valleys, mountains, and views of the Apurímac Canyon. The site preserves agricultural terraces, ceremonial squares and stone structures still under study and recovery. The region also offers other scenic stops, such as the Mountain of Seven Colors and Lake Humantay.

Page, Arizona
Page is an ideal base for exploring some of the most spectacular scenery in the Southwest United States. The city is located near Horseshoe Bend, the bend of the Colorado River famous for its horseshoe shape and views of the red rocks of Arizona.
Nearby you can also visit Lake Powell and Antelope Canyon, known for its narrow sandstone walls and the beams of light that change during the day. Page also allows you to organize itineraries to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley.
