Armenia Green Guide

The first volume of the Italian Touring Club entirely dedicated to the Caucasian country combines itineraries, practical information and cultural insights, with texts by Nadia Pasqual and Antonia Arslan

Thousand-year-old monasteries, plateaus, canyons, alpine lakes and food and wine traditions make up the portrait of Armenia proposed by the new Green Guide of the Italian Touring Club. It is the first volume of the series dedicated entirely to the Armenian Republic and was created to accompany the traveler to discover a country that is still little known, but increasingly present in international tourist itineraries.

The author of the Armenia Green Guide is Nadia Pasqual, a public relations professional who has been promoting the destination on the Italian market since 2007 and currently collaborates with the Armenia Tourism Committee. Its direct knowledge of the territory allows you to go beyond a simple succession of places to visit, offering tools to understand the history, culture and identity of the Armenian population.

The volume opens with the unpublished memoir by Antonia Arslan, a writer, essayist and academic of Armenian origin, best known for The Lark Farm. In the lyrics, Arslan recalls the first journey to the land of his ancestors and reflects on the relationship between memory, identity and belonging. This personal testimony introduces the reader to the most intimate dimension of the country and makes it clear from the first pages that the trip to Armenia cannot be separated from its complex historical history.

The guide departs from Yerevan, a lively and ever-changing capital, to reach the most remote regions. The route crosses mountain landscapes, valleys, canyons and high-altitude lakes, stopping at the large monastic complexes, some recognized by UNESCO. These places are not only presented as monuments, but as still living testimonies of Armenian spirituality and culture.

Particular attention is paid to the themes necessary to interpret contemporary Armenia: the birth of the first Christian state in history, the diaspora, the genocide of the Armenians, the natural heritage and traditions related to the table and wine production. These contents are accompanied by suggestions dedicated to experiential tourism, useful for getting in touch with local communities and getting to know the country through hospitality, craftsmanship and local flavors.

One of the main strengths of the volume is precisely the balance between in-depth analysis and practical usefulness. The 176 pages collect itineraries, travel tips and cultural information without reducing the destination to a list of attractions. The guide, on the other hand, helps to build a conscious route, suitable for both those visiting Armenia for the first time and those who want to explore its less frequented areas.

The publication comes at a time of growth in travel from Italy. In 2025, Armenia welcomed 22,669 Italian visitors, 40.7% more than the previous year. Direct connections to Yerevan, operated by Wizz Air and FlyOne Armenia from six Italian airports, also contribute to this trend.
