The Cayenne Electric debuts in Dubai
Dubai, a world emblem of innovation and avant-garde, is the setting chosen for the first public appearance of the new Porsche Cayenne Electric. After extreme tests conducted in the desert an hour from the metropolis, the 100% electric SUV has shown that power and sustainability can coexist even on the most demanding routes, redefining the very concept of "dune surfing".
Power and control without compromise
During the tests, the Cayenne Electric impressed with its agility and driving precision, qualities that are surprising for an SUV in this class. "It behaves like a much lighter car on the dunes," said Michael Schätzle, Vice President of the Cayenne product line. "The level of control achieved, especially at low speeds and at large steering angles, is something never seen before in these conditions."
On the road, the Cayenne Electric retains the dynamism of a Porsche sports car and the comfort of a top-of-the-range saloon, while in the desert it confirms its off-road heritage. In tests on fine sand, with slopes of more than 25 degrees and temperatures over 40 °C, it guaranteed instant power and impeccable traction.
The new drive system of the Cayenne Turbo Electric delivers up to 850 kW (1,156 hp) and 1,500 Nm of torque, combining ultra-low inertia of the electric motors, "Sand" driving mode and sensitive throttle response. The standard adaptive air suspension with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) allows the suspension to be raised by up to 245 mm in off-road mode, ensuring comfort and stability even on extreme terrain.
Best-in-class technology for desert driving
On the Cayenne Turbo, the optional Porsche Active Ride system keeps the body stable by instantly compensating for uneven terrain, while Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) improves traction and stability thanks to an electronic limited-slip differential and targeted brake interventions.
Cutting-edge technical solutions contribute to making all this possible:
- Porsche Traction Management (ePTM), five times faster than conventional systems, suitable for any off-road mode ("Gravel", "Sand", "Mud", "Rocks");
- Off-road package with up to 25 degree angle of attack, skid plates and additional air intakes;
- new 113 kWh battery cooling strategy, with dual cooling plates for each module;
- direct oil cooling for the rear engine, derived from racing, which ensures constant power even under stress.
Porsche is thus ushering in a new era in the world of luxury SUVs with the Cayenne Electric: a combination of electrical engineering and authentic driving pleasure, combining the adrenaline of pure off-road racing with the sophisticated comfort of urban driving.
And Dubai, a global symbol of modernity and visionary design, is hosting the fifth edition of the Icons of Porsche Festival this weekend, the event that celebrates the automotive culture, innovation and style of the German brand where the spotlight is on the new Cayenne Electric, the absolute protagonist of the event and shown live for the first time after its digital debut. Dubai's imposing skyline and the endless horizon of the desert provide the ideal setting for the all-electric SUV, a context where technology and passion meet, confirming Porsche's vision: to combine the charm of contemporary luxury with the most daring innovation.
