Urgench International Airport (UGC) is located in the city of Urgench, the capital of the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. It is one of the country's reference airports, as well as being a base of operations for the national airline Uzbekistan Airways. The Airport also play a key role for tourism to the city of Khiva, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the main historical attractions of the Khorezm oasis about 30 km from Urgench.
Located a short distance from the city center, Urgench International Airport is a civil airport with a single runway. The airport is modern in basic amenities and easily accessible. The airport is classified as international, with both domestic and international routes: it connects Urgench with major Uzbek cities such as Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand and Fergana; abroad, it serves destinations in countries such as Europe, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia through scheduled and seasonal connections.
