Santorini Airport is located near the area of Monolithos, about 5 km from the capital of Santorini, Fira. The airport is one of the largest of the Cyclades islands and was built in 1972 by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA). The airport now has a new Terminal with gates for national and international flights, duty free, shops and restaurants.
Fraport Greece is involved in the development of the Santorini airport. The modernization of the airport is characterized by various redevelopments including: expansion of 12,900 m2 and renovation of the existing terminal; reconfiguration of the aircraft parking area; increase in the number of check-in desks; doubling the number of baggage reclaim belts; increase in the number of gates at departures; increase in the number of lanes for security checks; installation of a modern baggage handling system; redevelopment of the existing yard and car park.

Car
Santorini Airport is located 5.5 km from Fira and is easily accessible from the Mesarias-Archeas Thiras provincial road. The journey to and from Fira takes approximately 15 minutes.
Taxi
It is possible to take a taxi to and from the airport in Fira and vice versa. The taxi ride from the airport to Fira city center, and vice versa, is approximately 15-20 euros. The ride takes about 15 minutes.
