Barcelona El Prat

Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat is the Barcelona’s principal airport and is found in El Prat de Llobregat at a distance of 10 km from the centre of Barcelona and only 3 km from the port. It is Spain’s second airport after Madrid Barajas, and serves national, continental and international flights. It has two terminals, T1 and T2, the latter divided into three areas: A, B and C. The airport development plan included the construction of an additional terminal and a new runway, as well as infrastructures, turning it into one most important airports in southern Europe.
 
The airport offers all necessary services for passengers as well as VIP lounges (T1 and T2), cafes, restaurants, shops and duty free at both T1 and T2.
 
Barcelona-El Prat Airport is located south-west of the city of Barcelona, between the city limits of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi.

Transportation to/from Barcelona airport
Train
The local railway service (Renfe Cercanias Barcelona and Rodalies de Catalunya) connects Barcelona to the airport in 27 minutes: Line R2 Nord Maçanet Massanes/Aeropuerto. There is also a direct train service from the station of Barcelona-Estació de França to the airport.
TheR2 North Line of the local train service connects the airport to Barcelona (Sants, Passeig de Gràcia...) and other towns in Catalonia: El Prat de Llobregat, Granollers, Sant Celoni, Maçanet-Massanes, etc.
Stops at the airport (T2, floor 0): Aeroport Cercanías train station. The airport has a 24-hour free shuttle service between terminals.
 
Subway
The L9 South subway line that connects the airport to the Zona Universitaria, (stops: Fira, Parc Logístic and Mercabarna). Stops at T1 and T2, level 0.

Bus
Bus lines connect the centre of Barcelona to the airport – both Terminals T1 andT2 – in 35 minutes (Aerobus), with a shuttle bus service operating every 5 minutes. Departures from: Placa Espanya, Placa Catalunya, Sant Joan Despì, El Prat de Llobregat and Castelldefels.
 
Car
The recommended roads to use for reaching the airport from Barcelona are: B-10; Av. Autovia Castelldefels; B-20.
 
Taxi
Taxis from the centre of Barcelona take passengers to the arrivals areas of Terminals T1, T2 A, T2 B and T2 C.
 
Car hire
Barcelona El Prat Airport is served by different car hire firms, available at Terminals T1 and T2 B: Avis-Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Firefly, Goldcar-InterRent, Hertz-Thrifty and Sixt.
