Qatar Airways: over 100 widebody aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi
Qatar Airways sets a new benchmark for in-flight connectivity: more than 100 widebody aircraft (wide-body airliners, with two internal aisles) in the fleet are now equipped with Starlink, the fastest Wi-Fi available at 35,000 feet, with an installation program completed ahead of schedule.
Since the debut of the first Boeing 777 with Starlink in October 2024, the airline has operated more than 30,000 flights with high-speed connection and gate-to-gate coverage on six continents, reaching key destinations in Asia, Australia, Europe and America. Today, more than 50% of the widebody fleet is connected and Qatar Airways operates up to 200 flights a day equipped with Starlink.
The Qatar Airways Group, led by CEO Ing. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, reiterates that the goal is to offer the best possible experience now and not in the distant future: passengers can work remotely, stream movies and sports, play online games and stay in touch with family and colleagues with a speed comparable to or greater than many domestic connections. The service is free of charge and available in all classes of travel, where permitted by local regulations.
The airline has completed installation on all Boeing 777s and is rapidly concluding the rollout on Airbus A350s, progressively extending coverage to a global network of more than 170 destinations.
