Qatar Airways introduces the world's first Boeing 787 with Starlink connection on board
Qatar Airways consolidates its leadership in air connectivity by becoming the first airline in the world to enable Starlink on the Boeing 787-8. The carrier, which already operates the first and largest global widebody fleet with Starlink, also completed the installation of the system on its entire Airbus A350 fleet in just eight months, reaching the milestone in December 2025.
Today, three Dreamliners are already connected, bringing the total number of widebody aircraft equipped with the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky to almost 120.
In just 14 months, Qatar Airways has started and completed Starlink installation programs on Boeing 777 and Airbus A350, then extending the technology to Boeing 787 Dreamliners. A path that makes the world leader in long- and ultra-long-haul connectivity and the first in the world to obtain Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8.
Since the launch of the service in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have already benefited from free, gate-to-gate (availability may vary at some airports based on local regulations) and faster Wi-Fi than many domestic connections on board.
In 2025 alone, Starlink connected more than 21 million passengers across airlines globally, and Qatar Airways' customers were the first in the world to use the free service on widebody aircraft on intercontinental routes.
Currently, nearly 120 widebody aircraft (accounting for more than 58% of Qatar Airways' widebody fleet) including Airbus A350, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 offer ultra-fast connectivity of up to 500 Mbps, enabling seamless streaming , video calls and real-time work.
The airline is progressively expanding service to more routes, including most destinations in the Americas and Australia (subject to operational changes), as well as key connections in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
