New route from Verona to Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc
On the occasion of the BIT (International Tourism Exchange in Milan), Royal Air Maroc announced the opening of the new direct Verona-Casablanca flight, operational from 21 June 2026 with three weekly frequencies (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).
Founded in 1957 and present in Italy for over 50 years, the Moroccan flag carrier thus strengthens its presence on the Italian market, today the second most important in Europe for the carrier. With Verona airport, the number of Italian airports served rises to eight: Bologna, Catania, Milan, Naples, Rome, Turin, Venice and Verona.
Operational and aircraft
The flight will be operated with Boeing 737-800, configured with 12 seats in Business Class and 147 in Economy Class.
- AT890: departure from Casablanca at 13:10, arrival in Verona at 17:20
- AT891: departure from Verona at 6:20 pm, arrival in Casablanca at 8:30 pm
The initiative follows the positive response of the Catania-Casablanca route, active since 28 June 2025, which recorded solid performance in the leisure, business and flows related to Moroccan and African communities.
Verona strategic for the North-East
The opening in Verona aims to replicate in the North-East the successful model already tested in Sicily. The connection meets the needs of residents in Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige. For passengers in the Northeast, the direct flight to Casablanca also represents a gateway to the company's African network.
Summer 2026: Growing capacity
For the Italian market, Royal Air Maroc expects a capacity increase of more than 20% in summer 2026 compared to 2025, thanks to the enhancement of several routes:
- Turin and Venice: 3 to 4 weekly frequencies in summer
- Catania: introduction of the third summer frequency
- Rome Fiumicino: from 7 to 8 weekly frequencies in winter and up to 9 in summer.
Casablanca hub to four continents
Casablanca remains the hub of the carrier's intercontinental strategy, with more than 90 active routes to Africa, the Americas and Asia. At least 10 new destinations are planned from 2026, including St. Petersburg, Bilbao, Alicante, Lille, Pointe-Noire, Tripoli, Beirut and especially Los Angeles, which will become the first direct connection between Africa and the Pacific coast of the United States.
Frequencies will also be increased on key routes such as São Paulo, Miami, Washington and Dubai. By 2030, the company aims to launch around 40 new routes and expand its fleet from 50 to 130 aircraft. Already in 2026, 10 new aircraft are expected, for a total of 72 operational units.
To support the expansion, Terminal 3 of Casablanca airport, dedicated entirely to Royal Air Maroc, is being developed: the hub's capacity will increase from 15 to 35 million passengers by 2029, with a direct connection to the Moroccan high-speed rail network.
