New Rome - Tripoli flight by Ita Airways
Two weekly frequencies, on Thursdays and Sundays, from Fiumicino airport to Tripoli Mitiga airport
ITA Airways has inaugurated the first direct Rome-Tripoli flight: a step forward in relations between Italy and Libya. With the opening of this route, the destinations served by ITA Airways in the winter season reach 55, confirming the company's commitment to expand its network and improve Italy's global connectivity.
Operational details of the Rome-Tripoli flight
- The connection will operate with two weekly frequencies, on Thursdays and Sundays.
- Departure from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) at 9:15 am, arrival in Tripoli Mitiga (MJI) at 12:10 pm (local time).
- Departure from Tripoli Mitiga at 13:05 (local time), arrival at Rome Fiumicino at 14:10.

Ita Airways ' new connection with Tripoli consolidates the role of the Rome Fiumicino hub as a bridge between Italy and Africa, a continent in strong growth, which in 2024 recorded over 2 million passengers to/from Rome, an increase of 38% compared to 2023.
The inauguration ceremony, at Terminal E of Fiumicino, was attended by numerous personalities, including Pietro Caldaroni, Chief Communication & Institutional Relations Officer of ITA Airways; Ivan Bassato, Chief Aviation Officer of Aeroporti di Roma; Pietro Sferra Carini, Deputy Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers, Pierluigi Di Palma, President and Fabio Nicolai, Acting Director General of ENAC; Muhanad Saeid Younus, Ambassador of Libya to Italy, Nicola Orlando, Ambassador of the European Union to Libya, Raffaello Biselli , Councillor for Commerce and Markets, Productive Activities and Suap of the Municipality of Fiumicino and Nicola Colicchi, President of the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce.
