New direct flight between Milan Malpensa and Philadelphia with American Airlines

American Airlines and SEA Aeroporti di Milano expand their transatlantic offering. From the 2025 summer season, the daily direct flight between Malpensa (MXP) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is added to the Milan-New York (JFK) route

American Airlines and SEA Aeroporti di Milano announce the introduction of a new direct flight between Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), American Airlines' main transatlantic hub.

Starting from May 24, 2025, the new flights between Milan and Philadelphia will be operational during the summer season, enriching the offer of connections between Milan and the United States, which already includes daily flights to New York (JFK) active all year round.

"The introduction of the direct flight to Philadelphia operated by American Airlines will be one of the most important innovations of the upcoming summer 2025 season and will represent a qualifying development of the long-haul flight network from Milan Malpensa airport," said Andrea Tucci, Vice President Aviation Business Development of SEA Milan Airports. "A direct service offering to American Airlines' main transatlantic hub, which will allow for smooth continuation thanks to American Airlines' numerous connections throughout the country, the Caribbean and Latin America. The new flight will help meet the continued increase in demand on routes between the two countries. With this service, the number of destinations connected directly from Malpensa to 78 countries will rise to 186".

The Philadelphia (PHL) hub offers passengers arriving from Italy numerous onward options to final destinations in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

All American Airlines flights between Milan and the U.S . are operated with modern Boeing 787-8 aircraft, offering a high-end travel experience, complete with Business Class and Premium Economy seats, state-of-the-art interiors, high-speed Wi-Fi and an in-flight entertainment system with 1,500 free and up-to-date content, available for each passenger.

Philadelphia Airport

Philadelphia International Airport is 13 km away from the city center. From the airport, 20 minutes by SEPTA train (USD 6.75 via app/ticketing) / 25 minutes by car/taxi (USD 29 on average). Philadelphia is located in the Eastern Time Zone (ET), 6 hours behind Central European Standard Time (CET).
