Mexico via Madrid: Iberia opens route to Monterrey

Iberia strengthens its connections between Europe and Mexico with the inauguration of the new direct Madrid-Monterrey flight. The route expands the Spanish company's offer on the Mexican market and makes it easier to reach the northeast of the country through the Madrid hub.

The new connection is operated three times a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with Airbus A330-200 configured with Business and Tourist cabins and a capacity of 288 passengers. With this opening, Iberia is making more than 53,000 seats available on the route between Madrid and Monterrey.

Monterrey becomes the second Mexican destination served directly by Iberia, next to Mexico City. Overall, the two routes offer over 820,000 seats between Spain and Mexico, with capacity up 8% compared to the previous year.

For European passengers, Madrid is thus confirmed as one of the main access points to Mexico. The new route is part of Iberia's Plan de Vuelo 2030, the company's strategy to consolidate its leadership in connectivity between Latin America and Europe and improve the customer travel experience.

Further strengthening the offer is the agreement between Iberia and Viva, which allows passengers arriving in Monterrey to continue to 32 domestic destinations in Mexico. The new connection therefore also becomes a gateway to other cities in the country.

Travellers can also use the Hola Madrid Stopover Programme, which allows them to stay in the Spanish capital for up to nine nights, outward or return, at no additional cost on the ticket and with dedicated benefits on hotels, transport, gastronomy and leisure.
