ITA Airways launches the first direct Rome-Houston flight

ITA Airways opens sales of the new direct Rome Fiumicino - Houston flight, the first connection in history between the two cities, operational from 1 May 2026. The new route strengthens the airline's intercontinental network and expands travel opportunities to Texas, one of the most dynamic and growing areas of the United States.

The service will be operated with a new generation Airbus A330-900 , synonymous with efficiency, on-board comfort and Italian design, making the journey to the USA even more enjoyable.

Flight schedule – Summer 2026

Rome Fiumicino → Houston (IAH)

• 1–31 May 2026: 3 weekly frequencies (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday).
  Departure from Fiumicino at 10:20 am, arrival at George Bush Intercontinental Airport at 3:40 pm (local time).
• 1 June – 24 October 2026: 5 weekly frequencies (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

Houston → Rome Fiumicino

• 1–31 May 2026: 3 weekly frequencies (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday).
  Departure from Houston at 6:10 pm, arrival in Rome at 11:50 am the next day.
• 1 June – 24 October 2026: 5 weekly frequencies (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

A new bridge between Italy and Texas

With Houston, ITA Airways adds the ninth destination in North America to its network, expanding an already consolidated presence in the main US metropolises: New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., as well as summer connections to Chicago and Toronto.

The new route represents a privileged gateway both for American tourists heading to Italy and for Italian Travellers interested in discovering Texas, a land of great cultural vitality, innovation, natural spaces and important economic hubs.

Thanks to the Rome Fiumicino hub, passengers arriving from Houston will be able to count on convenient connections to 16 Italian cities, as well as connections from Milan Linate to 12 domestic destinations.
ITA Airways thus confirms its role as a reference carrier for those traveling from the USA to Italy and, through Rome, to Europe and the Mediterranean.

Strategic collaborations and international growth

The opening of the new route is part of a path of strong international expansion that will culminate in 2026 with the company's entry into Star Alliance, as part of the integration into the Lufthansa Group.
ITA Airways also continues to develop commercial partnerships: recent codeshare agreements with United Airlines and Air Canada further expand travel options and facilitate connections between Europe and North America.
