Emirates celebrates Diwali on board and in lounges
To celebrate Diwali, the traditional Hindu festival of lights, Emirates is offering a festive experience on board flights to and from India, from 17 to 24 October 2025.
During this time, passengers travelling to Dubai from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Mumbai can experience the magic of Diwali with authentic flavours, traditional sweets and entertainment inspired by Indian culture.
Diwali sweets in all travel classes
On the occasion of the anniversary, Emirates offers passengers a taste of Diwali's most beloved specialties.
In Premium Economy and Economy Class, customers can enjoy the traditional motichoor laddu – a cake made of chickpea flour, sugar, cardamom and saffron, decorated with pistachios.
In First and Business Class, the refined Kaju pistachio roll, prepared with cashews, dried fruit and rose aroma, covered with thin silver leaves, was also served.
An explosion of flavours in Emirates Lounges
The Emirates First and Business Class Lounges in Dubai offer a selection of Diwali dishes and desserts.
Savoury options include onion kachori and paneer potli samosas, accompanied by tamarind and mint chutney . For desserts, a selection of traditional sweets such as balushahi, kesar rasgullas, gajar ka halwa and a delicious mango sandwich.
First Class passengers can enjoy themed cocktails and mocktails, including the Spicy Saffron Martini and Chai Chat Latte, while Business Class guests can choose from an elegant Elderflower Gin Fizz or a fresh Berry Basil Splash.
Emirates' lounges in Cape Town and Johannesburg, where there is a large Indian community, will also celebrate the holiday with sweets such as gulab jamun, traditional rice pudding and mango lassi.
Themed entertainment on board
The travel experience is completed with a dedicated selection in the award-winning ice entertainment system. Passengers can choose from 167 Indian films, including Bollywood novelties and classics such as Laapataa Ladies, Crazxy, Jigra, The Lost Girl and Apurva, as well as regional films in nine languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bengali and Gujarati). There are also 14 Indian TV shows available, including The Traitors India and Love, Life, Lafde with Zakir Khan, and over 40 albums and music playlists to create the perfect party atmosphere on board.
