Emirates' new U-Dream headrest
Emirates introduces U-Dream, a new adjustable headrest designed to improve the comfort of Economy Class passengers, especially on long-haul flights. The airline has already started installation on its aircraft and plans to extend it to all Airbus A350s, most A380s and Boeing 777s affected by the renewal program.
Integrated into the Z400 seat developed by Safran Seats for Emirates, the headrest is made of padded leather and has flexible side wings that can be folded inwards. This supports your head and neck during sleep, limiting lateral or forward movements.
U-Dream can be adjusted in height and inclination to suit passengers of different sizes. According to Emirates, the solution offers an ergonomic level of support in Economy Class normally associated with premium cabins and can reduce the need to use a travel pillow.
The head restraint has been independently tested and verified according to EASA safety standards. It is also designed to be sanitized easily and is cleaned after every flight.
The system is already available on three Airbus A350s. All Emirates A350s are expected to receive it by the end of 2026, while it will be installed as standard on the 270 Boeing 777Xs ordered by the company. From 2027, the roll-out will also continue on the A380s and Boeing 777s undergoing the retrofit programme.
More comfort on long-haul flights
The Emirates A350s offer an Economy 3-3-3 configuration, 13.3-inch 4K personal screens, USB-C ports, cabins with higher ceilings and seats designed to promote a more comfortable position while travelling.
The introduction of U-Dream is part of the broader update of the airline's Economy experience , which includes the ice entertainment system with over 6,500 channels, the progressive installation of the Starlink connection and services dedicated to families and younger passengers.
Full meals with drinks included are served on board, while complimentary courtesy kits are provided on long-haul routes. Dedicated meals, activity kits, games and specific entertainment are available for children.
Through its Dubai hub, Emirates connects destinations on six continents. With the Emirates Skywards programme, passengers can also earn and redeem Miles for flights, upgrades, stays, purchases and experiences.
