Codeshare between Qatar Airways and China Southern
Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines have announced a major expansion of their strategic partnership ahead of China's Golden Week 2025, one of the most eagerly awaited holidays by travellers. The agreement provides for an increase in frequencies and an expansion of the codeshare, with the aim of offering passengers even more widespread connectivity to the main world destinations.
From 16 October 2025, China Southern will operate three new weekly direct flights between Beijing (Beijing Daxing Airport PKX) and Hamad International Airport (DOH), on which Qatar Airways will apply its code. This enhancement adds to the connections already active from Guangzhou and consolidates Doha as one of the most strategic hubs for tourist and business flows between China and the rest of the world.
Thanks to the expansion of the codeshare, travellers will be able to access more than 170 global destinations across Qatar Airways' network, with facilitated connections to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The partnership will also extend to other Chinese cities, including Chengdu Tianfu, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Shanghai, pending the necessary government approvals. In total, passengers will have 64 weekly flights operated by Qatar Airways, China Southern and Xiamen Airlines to eight gateways in Greater China, thus ensuring one of the most competitive route networks on the market.
The enhanced cooperation between the two airlines comes amid growing demand for international travel during Golden Week, a period in which millions of Chinese choose to travel for both vacation and business reasons.
