Codeshare between Ita Airways and Icelandair

The agreement strengthens connectivity between Rome and Reykjavík and connections between the two companies' networks

ITA Airways and Icelandair, Iceland's flag carrier, have announced the signing of a new codeshare agreement that strengthens connections between their networks. The partnership will allow passengers from both airlines to travel more smoothly to more destinations by combining the two airlines' route networks.

New travel opportunities and increased connectivity

Thanks to this partnership, the flights will go on sale with the first connections available from January 20, 2025. The codeshare will allow passengers to book itineraries that combine flights between the two airlines, enjoying a single ticket for the entire journey.

This agreement will enhance connectivity via ITA Airways' hubs in Rome Fiumicino and Reykjavik, providing passengers with more travel opportunities. With this partnership, ITA Airways reaches its 37th codeshare agreement, a significant milestone for a company with just three years of activity.

The agreement improves connectivity between Rome and Reykjavik, opening the doors to their respective domestic networks. Icelandair passengers will be able to access a wide range of Italian destinations thanks to ITA Airways' network, which includes cities such as Catania, Palermo, Naples, Bologna, Florence, Bari, Genoa, Trieste, Lamezia Terme, Venice and Turin.

Similarly, ITA Airways passengers will have access to Icelandic connections and international destinations served by Icelandair through Reykjavik. Both companies also expressed their intention to expand the partnership, including additional connections via the main shared European hubs.

Increase in flights and strengthen partnership

To support this new collaboration, Icelandair has announced an increase in winter flights to Rome, which will increase to four weekly connections. During the summer season, Icelandair already operates daily flights to Milan and Rome, consolidating its presence in Italy and facilitating travel between the two countries.

The official signing ceremony took place at Ita Airways' headquarters in Rome Fiumicino, in the presence of Andrea Benassi, General Manager of ITA Airways, Cesare Autera, VP Alliances and Partnerships of ITA Airways, Tomas Ingason, Chief Commercial Officer of Icelandair, and Helgi Mar Bjorgvinsson, VP Partnerships & Corporate Affairs of Icelandair.
